DarkHaunts Smartphone App

Sunday, September 16th, 2012

restaurant on smartphone DarkHaunts Haunted Site Locator was designed to help you locate the closest “Real” haunted site near you. You can choose to have the app Auto-Detect your location, or you can enter a location manually by zipcode or City, State. Each site has been researched and its geographical location has been plotted, (Longitude and Latitude).

Once your location has been determined, auto located or chosen by you, the display will show a listing of Real Haunted Sites and their distance from the location you chose. If you click on one of the listed locations it will display the address, if available, and the longitude and latitude of the site and brief description of the activity there. If the story has been researched and is available on the DarkHaunts website there is a link to take you to that webpage and read more about it, you will not be logged out of the app when you do this.

You can hit the “View Map” button and it will show you the Haunted site on a Google Map that you can zoom in on if needed, but you will not leave the application.

On the main listing page you can also click on the “Location Types” button and you can choose what type of location you would like to view. For example I like to eat at any haunted restaurant that I can find, so I go to the Location types screen, chose “None” at the bottom and it clears all the location types, the default is all location types, and then hit apply and then the list of haunted locations will come back up with just the nearest haunted restaurants close by. Or perhaps you want to find the nearest haunted hotel, you can do the same thing, but this time choose hotel instead of restaurant, or choose both if you like.

Currently there are 3,000 Real and verified haunted locations in the DarkHaunts Haunted locator database, and it is growing every day. There may be close to 10,000 in the United States alone when done and then we will expand internationally as well.

The App is available on both the Android Market and iTunes for the low price of $0.99.
